PROMOTE at every opportunity (flyers will be available starting at Fall Conference)
Post flyers, contact other VSO’s, write newspaper articles, talk it up!
SELL tickets. Incentives include one free ticket for every 10 sold and turned in to the Department office by close of business on March 30. GET CREATIVE! Invite a veteran from a local nursing home or the family of an active duty serviceperson (if the serviceperson can attend as well, his or her ticket will be free). Give tickets as gifts to your neighbors, your family, your friends, a military family. Raffle them off. THESE VETERANS DESERVE A BIG AUDIENCE!!
SELL ads. Buy one for your Post, Unit, Squadron. Approach other VSO’s and local businesses. Start a booster page. NEW THIS YEAR! Honor a veteran on our honor page. (Applications and a letter to potential sponsors are available.) Deadline: March 30.
DONATE DOOR PRIZES. We need up to 20 door prizes worth at least $25.00 each. Gift cards are ideal but keep in mind that the winners may be from all around the state or even other states so chains such as Walmart, Red Lobster, Subway, etc with many stores are desirable. Donors will be credited from the stage as they are awarded. If the article is merchandise please run it by us ahead of time. Deadline for these is MARCH 30.
FREE TICKETS are available for active duty military, veteran inpatients in hospitals or nursing homes, ROTC/JROTC members if they are in uniform, junior ALA members, Junior SAL members and children six years old and under. These tickets are to be given out at the door.
INVOLVE YOUR JUNIORS (ALA & SAL). There will be a special part of the program involving all of them. Be sure they bring SAL covers and Junior member T-shirts.
